Harry Miles IversonNovember 4,1929 - September 11, 2019
Born and raised in St. Paul, MN, Harry graduated from Hamline University and the University of MN and also attended Gustavus Adolphus College. He was a Luther Leaguer at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in St. Paul and an Eagle Scout. He spent summers from the 20s to the 60s at Lake Minnetonka in MN surrounded by family and friends. During post WWII occupation Harry served in the US Army in Germany. In 1966 he married Marion and two years later the couple moved to Raleigh and put down roots. He retired from the old Kerr Drug in Raleigh after operating Iverson Pharmacy in St. Paul and Minneapolis, first with his father and later as sole proprietor. Marion and Harry danced 15 years wth the folk dancers of the Friends of Scandinavia in Raleigh. For many years he volunteered there and with the Saints and Sinners group of St. Philip Lutheran Church in Raleigh organizing programs and bus trips to VA and around the Carolinas. He enjoyed boating, skiing, and traveling with his family. He was a consummate gardener in his yard for 40 years before moving to Springmoor Life Care Center with Marion two years ago. He loved his wife Marion, son Dwight, daughter Annette, son in law Jeff and granddaughter Elsa. Harry is also survived by his sister Mary Anderson and brother in law Gerald Anderson of Westin, MA. Preceding him in in death was his mother Mamie Johnson Iverson and father Harry Iverson. Remembrance of life service will be Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 2:30pm at St. Philip Lutheran Church in Raleigh. Memorials may be made to the JoshAndersonFoundation.org in lieu of flowers.
