Joseph Amaru

Joseph Amaru, 94 of Wake Forest, loving husband, father, and grandfather died November 8, 2020 at his home following an extended illness. He was the son of Orazio and Angelina L. Amaru, both Italian immigrants.

Joe was born in New York where he practiced law for thirty years prior to his move to North Carolina. He obtained both his undergraduate and law degrees from St. John's University. He served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 on the USS Lake Champlain.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, son Joseph Jr., brothers Santo and Vincent, and sister Marion Barry. He is survived by his wife of twenty-three years, Carol Fisher Amaru, daughters Susan Demsey/Michael, Cynthia McKay/Tom, Ava Abbati; daughter-in-law Amy Amaru; sons Simeon Amaru/Valerie and Gerald Bland/Paula.

A private family burial will be held Friday, November 20, 2020 at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
