Carl H. Baker, 62, of Franklinton NC, formally of Clay NY passed away on August 17, 2019 after a long battle with cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cherylann (Cheri), his son Mitchell Baker (Erin) of Robesonia PA, his daughter Dr. Courtney Barrett (Jeffery) of Wake Forest NC, his grandchildren Reid and Maggie Baker and Landon Barrett.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Transitions Lifecare (Hospice of Raleigh).
There will be no services at the request of the family.
Allen Zerumsky, 61, passed peacefully at his home on July 27, 2019.
At his request, no service will be held. In Allen's memory, his ashes will be scattered in Colorado and at the North Carolina coast.
Allen was born in Bitburg, Germany on May 12, 1958 to Adolph George Zerumsky, Jr. and Brigitte Zimmer Zerumsky. He spent the first four years of his childhood with his mother's family in Trier, Germany and had many wonderful memories of that time.
He loved the sea and the mountains. His passion for free diving, surfing, and fishing led him to spend time in Wilmington, NC, while his love of climbing and snow skiing precipitated his move to Colorado.
Allen is survived by his brother, Andrew Zerumsky; his sister and her husband, Birgit and Jerome Burchard; his niece, Jennifer FitzGibbon; his partner in life, Jana Bramble; his stepchildren, William Bramble, Heather Bramble, and Jesse Bramble; and his beloved granddaughters, Savannah Bramble and Sophia Bramble.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Brigitte Zerumsky; and his infant son, Alden Zerumsky.
He will be forever missed.
Ray Douglas Messer age 61 passed away on July 25, 2019. He was born on July 17, 1958 in Florida to the late Darrell and Barbara Guilford Messer. In addition to his parents Ray was preceded in death by his brother Ronnie Messer, father-in-law Samuel T. Ward, brother-in-law Robert Michael Ward. Ray loved classic cars, wood burning, and his family and friends. He was a man who always put others before himself.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife Latricia Ward Messer, sons; Joshua and wife Jennifer Messer, Justin and wife Amanda Messer, and Nathan Messer, daughter Nicole Messer and husband Seth VanOrder, grandchildren; Justin Messer, Jr., Hannah Messer, Lane Messer, Annabella Messer, Haylee Messer, Gabriel VanOrder and Julian VanOrder, brother, Rickey and wife Libby Messer, sister Lenie and husband Craig Krick, mother-in-law Sharon Ward, brother-in-law David and wife Ana Ward, and many nieces and nephews.

Charles Anthony Abraham age 83 passed away on May 28th 2019. He was born on March 23rd 1936 in Mishawaka Indiana to the late Mike and Esther Abraham. After Retiring from Patrick Industries and losing his spouse Charles moved to Rocky Mount NC to be close to his three daughters. He was a real sports enthusiast. He taught Boxing, Karate and enjoyed watching all types of sports on the television especially football. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and playing Bingo. He enjoyed making jewelry and loved giving them away to everyone he met. He was proceeded in death by his wife Nita Abraham, daughter Tamara Lee Abraham, step son Robert M. Davis, brothers Herbie Abraham, Richard Abraham, William Abraham and one sister Ardele May.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving daughters and sons in law Kim Reams (Jon) of Rocky Mount, Robin Ezzell (Bill) of Red Oak, Charlene Womble (Dennis) of Rocky Mount and one step daughter Kathy West (DJ) of Niles Michigan. An honorary daughter Michele Parker that he loved like his own. 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A private service will be held and his remains will be laid to rest in South Bend Indiana.
Ricky “Rick” Alan Moore, 70, passed away Tuesday, April 23, at his home in Fayetteville, NC.
He was born on March 12, 1949, in Raleigh, North Carolina to Forrest and Rose Moore.
He proudly served twenty-one years in the U.S. Army (1969 – 1990) retiring as a Master Sergeant, E8. He completed two tours in Vietnam and earned numerous serve awards serving as both a Combat Engineer and Aviation Operator. He was selected for Sergeant Major, E9, but retired before promotion July 31, 1990. He pursued a second career at Sam’s Club in Fayetteville until his full retirement in 2010.
Rick enjoyed watching Pittsburgh Steeler football, NASCAR, and listening to music.
He is preceded in death by his father Forrest (Ricky) Moore, wife and mother of his sons, Ann Moore and his wife Joanne Moore. He is survived by his mother, Rose Moore of Raleigh (formerly of Fayetteville), his sons Sam (Stacy) and John (Amy) Moore both of Fuquay Varina, and his stepson Joseph Watts of Fayetteville, siblings: Karen (John) Watts of Wake Forest, Jean (Gary) Bowen of Benson, Sherri (Jim) Phillips of Cary, and David Moore of Benson. He was Grandpa to David, Makayla, Lauren, Samantha, Katelyn, and Brooke.
Family visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019, Noon-1PM Cornerstone Church located at 9725 Fayetteville Road, Raleigh. The Memorial Service with full military honors will follow directly after from 1-2PM.
According to his wishes, Rick will be laid to rest at Sandhills Veteran’s Cemetery, Fort Bragg, NC during a private family ceremony at a later date.

Margaret “Yvonne” Cottrell of Franklinton, NC entered heaven on Monday, April 8, 2019, at Transitions LifeCare Hospice Home at the age of 72. She passed away peacefully after a courageous, hard fought battle with cancer.
Yvonne was born on August 10, 1946, in Mt. Airy, NC to the late Lee Roy and Frances Morrison. She graduated from Newport News High School and attended George Washington University in Washington, D.C. After college, Yvonne took a position with the Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co. where she worked in their purchasing department for 14 years. During that time, she met and married the love of her life, Wayne Cottrell, who retired from the US Navy. After having their son, Yvonne took the role of being a mother and homemaker, totally dedicating herself in all aspects of her son’s life. In addition to her parents, Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Wayne Cottrell;and her brother, Willie Pete Morrison.
Her interests included family, gardening, sewing, shopping and reading. She devoted much of her time and energy to her family. Her generous ways, infectious personality and optimistic attitude caused her to be valued by many. Yvonne treasured her “little” family the most in her life. She adored her son, his wife, and their two daughters. She cherished her granddaughters and loved them more than life itself. She will greatly be missed.
She leaves behind her son and wife, Wayne and Mandee Cottrell of Wake Forest, NC; her two granddaugthers, Jaycee Cottrell and Everly Cottrell of Wake Forest, NC; her sister and brother in law, Kim and Randy Hicks of White Plains, NC; her brother and sister in law, Roy and Barbara Morrison of Mt. Airy, NC; her nephew and wife, Roy and Laura Morrison Jr of Tobaccoville, NC and their daughter, Abrielle Morrison.
A time of gathering to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, April 26 from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. in the event room at Shuckers Grill, located at 3309 Rogers Rd. Wake Forest, NC. Yvonne touched the lives of many, so the family welcomes anyone wanting to share in her memory. Larry Herbert Royster passed on to God peacefully at his Raleigh NC home March 18, 2019. Although Larry had experienced deteriorating health since 2003, his final two days were a swift and pain-free decline.
Larry was born in Durham county NC on September 22, 1936 to Pinkney Herbert Royster and Vivian Rigsbee Royster. He earned his BS, MS, and PhD degrees at NC State University, where he taught in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering until 2001, retiring as a full professor. Larry loved teaching as well as stimulating students to solve real-world problems. His interest in noise and vibration control led him to assist first the NC Department of Labor and later the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration in developing noise and hearing conservation regulations. Prevention of noise-induced hearing loss remained his passion and research interest. His contributions were recognized via prestigious awards from several professional societies. He published numerous scientific papers and book chapters. After retirement he studied widely divergent scientific topics and pursued new hobbies in amateur radio and golf. In all pursuits doggedly thorough, Larry was a man of integrity, fairness, and intense practicality who wanted to make the world a better place.
Larry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Julia Doswell Royster of Raleigh NC; his sons Larry Herbert Royster Jr. (Katyusca) of Clayton NC and William Kirk Royster (Nancy) of Midland MI; his grandchildren Jason Michael Royster (Melodie), Amanda Elizabeth Royster, Ruth Betsabe Royster-Saines, Joshua Alexander Royster, Phillip Timothy Royster (fiancee Kirsten), and Brooks William Royster; great grandchildren Christian, Kayley, Landon, and Leighton; and his faithful canine companion Mocha. Larry was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Hazel Royster Edwards of Durham NC and Doris Royster Pack of Newberry SC, and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
A memorial service for Larry will be held Thursday March 21 at 3:30 pm at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church in Raleigh, followed by visitation at the church. Martin E. Wallace, 71, of Raleigh, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at his home.

He is survived by his wife, Kim Wallace; sons, Buddy Wallace and wife Heather, Marty Wallace and wife, Vernita and Zach Wallace; grandsons, Dallon Wallace and wife, Fran and Chanse Wallace; great grandchildren, Madelynn, Kywren and Brennan.
James Franklin “Frank” Barbee, 69, passed away on February 11, 2019 in Pomaria, SC. Born in Albermarle, NC he was the son of the late James Alford Barbee and Roxy Marie Brown Barbee.
Frank was a devoted Redskins fan, enjoyed Carolina shag dancing, Beach Music and listening to the blues. He was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his son, Eric Barbee, daughter, Jennifer Watts (Keller); step-daughters, Arlene Burnette (Jake), Amber Price, (Ian); brother, Ronnie Barbee, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. All of who he was extremely proud.
A memorial service picnic is planned for April 27th at Dreher Island State in Prosperity, SC.

Curtis Wayne Alley, 71, of Louisburg departed this earthly life on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at his daughter’s home surrounded by family. Born on October 5, 1947 to the late William Greene Alley and Violet Smith Dorsey. Curtis enjoyed gardening, hunting and listening to music. He also owned a race car. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, Robin Alley and his sister, Charlotte Watkins.
A memorial service will be held Friday night from 7 to 8:00 pm at White Level Fire Department and a service will also be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm at White Level Holiness Church Pastor Allen Gardner and Pastor Larry Ayscue.

Joanne Theresa Carter Watts Moore, 66, of Fayetteville, NC, passed peacefully from this life surrounded by her family at home on the morning of November 7, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, always putting others before herself. She had a kind and loving heart, touching many lives with her presence. Her family and friends will always be thankful for the gift that was her life. Joanne was born on June 22, 1952 in Champaign, IL to Lowell Henry and Lucille Agnes (Whittemore) Carter who preceded her in death. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Rick Moore of Fayetteville; son, Joseph Watts of Fayetteville; stepsons, Sam Moore (Stacy) of Raleigh, NC and John Moore (Amy) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, David, Samantha, Katie, Makayla, Lauren and Brooke. She will be forever missed by her siblings, Mary Berry (Bob) of Vale, NC; Bill Carter (Ramona) of Pensacola, FL; Jimmy Carter (Teresa) of Pikeville, NC; and Patty O’Riordan of Malden, MA; She was predeceased by her sister Susan Carter who died as an infant. Lori Napier Haley passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 5, 2018 at the age of 57. She was born on December 6, 1960 in Kansas to the late Joseph Earl and Etta Button Canfield.
Lori is survived by her husband Marshall Haley; children Josh Napier of Hartsville, SC, Danny Napier of Waxhaw, NC, Debbie Napier and Mandy Powell both of Darlington, SC; eight grandchildren; sister, Leslie of Texas, and brother Dennis of Kansas.
William “Billy” Arthur Bell, 75, of Chester, VA peacefully passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018. He was born in Petersburg, VA and attended Petersburg High School. He was a member of the Petersburg Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 882 for 43 years. He loved classic cars and always had a great story to tell.
Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cindy, his three daughters, Lisa Pacheco, Amy Moore, and Laura Bell, his son Jason Bell, four grandchildren, Yasmyne, Simon, Daisy, and Elisabeth, and extended family and dear friends. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to all. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Cummins.

Michelle Lynn Strobach (Solner), age 38 passed away late Monday night May 28, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 17, 1979, in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, to Steve and Rebecca.
Shellie is survived by her husband Nick, her two young daughters Lainey and Emmi; her parents Steve (& Tina) and Rebecca (& Jim), her sisters Darlene, Nicole, and Heather, and her brothers Dominick, Kyle and Christopher.
Shellie was a courageous and spirited woman who loved her husband and daughters with all of her heart. A member of their local church and a volunteer with their local animal adoption agency. She had a lot of love to give. She had a keen sense of humor and was the first to respond with sarcastic comments in kind. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, board games, and World of Warcraft. She was a loving wife and mother, devoted daughter, great sister, and loyal friend. She is loved, and will be missed by many.

Connie Matthews Bryant, 61, of Spring Hope departed this earthly life on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Nash General Hospital. William Ray Atkins Jr. died peacefully on Feb. 21, 2018 at the age of 87.
William is survived by his wife Marilyn and his children - Robin Anderson, William Atkins III and wife Brenda, Lori Atkins and Chad Atkins and wife Lori, 14 grandkids and 6 great grandkids and 5 sisters. He is preceded in death by 2 sisters: Mary Edith and Betty Hazel.
William was born on March 3, 1930 in Cary, NC to William Ray Atkins and Clara Ruth Mann Atkins. He served in the Army for 2 yrs and was a long distance truck driver for 30+ yrs and worked as a diesel mechanic before retiring.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at New Horizons Fellowship in Apex, NC on Sunday March 4, 2018 at 2pm . Pastor Ray Wickham will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate William's life.
