Stuart P. Rogers died on Sunday, December 5, 2021, after several years of declining health. He was born February 24, 1959, in Homer, NY, to William Rogers and Luella Marcks. In his youth, Stuart enjoyed playing ice hockey, music, working on vintage cars, and being a class clown.
After excelling in athletics and academics in High School, he enrolled in The College of William & Mary where he competed in Track & Field. Following graduation, he embarked on a career in corporate accounting and finance. After starting a family, he decided to advance his education at Duke University and earned a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). His children were so proud to have a dad that played professional basketball in the NBA.
Stuart had a long and successful career as a financial controller at GlaxoSmithKline. After 22 years of service, he decided to turn in his badge and calculator and dive head first into the world of farming. He owned and operated his own farm in Louisburg, NC, until the time of his death. He may have been in consideration for the 2014 Farmer's Digest- Farmer of the Year Award.
In his spare time, Stuart enjoyed watching Duke Basketball, heckling UNC fans, cooking, and watching movies. There is speculation that he once saved his family from a rabid bat by trapping it in a tupperware container, and coached a YMCA basketball team to an undefeated record. He is survived by his siblings, Marc and Andrea, and children, Christina, Myles, John, and Abigail.
